Attention:

As of August 20, 2024, Calendly no longer supports new connections to iCloud Calendar. Existing connections will continue to be supported, but new users or those who have not previously set up an iCloud Calendar connection will not be able to do so. All-day events and free/busy status in iCloud

If you connected your iCloud calendar to Calendly before August 20, 2024, you can use the Free or Busy status of events to control how all-day events affect your availability.

However, Apple no longer allows changing the free/busy status of events in the iCloud desktop Calendar app. In some cases, you can still adjust this setting on your iPhone or iPad.

How Apple Calendar handles event status

If you use the Apple Calendar app to view more than one calendar, the Show As or Status option (for example, Busy or Free) only appears for events you create on a connected Google Calendar.

If you create events directly on an Apple (iCloud) Calendar, these options won’t appear. This is expected behavior based on how Apple’s iCloud calendar works.

If you don’t see options to mark your event as Busy or Free, try creating or editing the event from your iPhone or iPad instead.

View or change an iCloud event’s status on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the iCloud event on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Look for the Show As setting and choose Busy.

Can’t see the “Show As” option?

You may need to create a new iCloud calendar directly on your iOS device. Learn how to create a calendar on iCloud.com.

If your all-day events aren’t affecting availability correctly

Try the following workarounds to block or free up time accurately on your Calendly booking page.

Option 1 – Block time without using an all-day event

If an all-day event isn’t showing you as unavailable, you can:

  • Change the status to Busy on your iOS device (as described above),
    or
  • Create a standard timed event instead of an all-day event. For example, create an event from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This will block most of your day without using the all-day option.

Option 2 – Prevent an all-day event from blocking your availability

If an all-day event is incorrectly blocking your availability, move the event to a separate calendar and prevent Calendly from reading that calendar.

  1. In iCloud, create a new calendar (for example, call it All-day events).
  2. Move the all-day event to that calendar.
  3. In Calendly, go to Account > Calendar Connections.
  4. Under Calendars to check for conflicts, select your iCloud calendar.
  5. Uncheck the new calendar so Calendly ignores it.
